Extraordinary meeting with the Abbracci di libri (hugs of books), reading aloud organized at the Borgomanero Marazza Library as part of the Nati per leggere (Born to Read) project. On Saturday 12th July 2014, young readers welcomed Marina Shandoruk, which made them discover the Ukrainian culture. The journey began from the traditional tale "Pull, pull the turnip", used to teach numbers and an important moral: even bigger goals can be achieved by joining forces. Children were then triggered in the game "The cat and the mice," testing their language and athletic skills.
The activity ended with the teaching of an ancient dance still performed during traditional festivals. Overcoming shyness, our young readers enthusiastically danced. Children drawings that portray Ukraine in the eyes of Italian children will keep the memory of this experience.
